Founded in 1983, NAS was one of the first group studios for painters to be established in Dublin. The studios were initially set up to provide basic studio space at affordable rents in the city centre, but over the years the premises have been expanded to include access to large scale equipment that would not usually available to artists working alone. Located in the north inner city close to the fruit markets, NAS provides 11 individual artist's studios, all with natural light, a fully equipped framing workshop and photographic and computer facilities. There is also wireless Internet access. We have 11 full members as well as 4 associate members. Each full member has exclusive use of an individual studio. Associate members have access to communal facilities only.Training is provided for all studio members in photography,digital media and framing at regular intervals. While the artists naturally wish to focus on their individual careers, sharing a building with other artists can have many advantages. In addition to the lower running costs and use of specialist equipment, group exhibitions, touring shows and studio open days have been organised.
NAS receives funding from the Arts Council of Ireland.
